Sitsatsaweni – The Eswatini National Trust Commission participated on Friday afternoon in a one-day National Validation Workshop at Magadzavane Lodge, focusing on promoting culture and heritage-based sustainable tourism in Southern Africa.
The workshop, organised under the project “Africa-Europe Partnership for Culture: Promoting Culture and Heritage-Based Sustainable Tourism in Southern Africa,” is supported by the European Union and implemented locally by the Eswatini National Commission for UNESCO. It aims to strengthen the role of culture and heritage in driving sustainable development across the country.
Stakeholders from the culture, tourism, and development sectors, alongside local community representatives, gathered to review and validate findings from the project’s baseline study in Eswatini. Discussions centred on enhancing culture and heritage-based tourism, diversifying tourism products and experiences, and improving visitor services, with Matsanjeni North Inkhundla highlighted as a key site.
