MANKAYANE – Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla, together with the Kwakitsi Foundation, delivered a donation of blankets to the Mankayane Old Age Home and Facility for Persons with Disabilities yesterday, August 11.
The contribution was made possible through Lizinyane Princess Temtsimba and forms part of ongoing efforts to support vulnerable communities in line with the Nkwe Mandate issued by His Majesty King Mswati III.
The Mayor of Mankayane Township welcomed the delegation, describing the DPM’s visit as a blessing to the town. Kwakitsi Foundation representative Nomalungelo Dladla commended the dedication of staff at the facility and said such partnerships with government are essential in improving the lives of those in need.

Addressing guests, DPM Dladla stressed the importance of caring for the elderly, stating, “Bantfu labadzala abanakekelwe,” meaning “our elderly must be cared for.” She noted improvements in the residents’ quality of life and urged the Ministry of Health to strengthen its response to mental health challenges among the elderly, particularly dementia.
She described the Mankayane Old Age Home as a sanctuary, with some residents recovering and reuniting with their families, while others spend their final days in comfort. Plans are underway to establish a similar home in Mbabane to expand services for vulnerable groups.
Representing residents, Gogo Thoko Simelane thanked the DPM, Kwakitsi Foundation and His Majesty for the continued support, saying the facility has brought dignity and comfort to their lives despite being away from their original homes.
