Mozambicans deported from South Africa assisted in Maputo

Maputo – More than 290 Mozambican nationals deported from South Africa are being housed in Maputo Province as authorities work to facilitate their return to their home regions.

The group was repatriated for various offences, including immigration violations and criminal activity. Officials confirmed that many of those deported lacked proper travel documents, with some found without passports or with no recorded entry or exit stamps.

Maputo Provincial Migration Services spokesperson Carmen Mazenga said the group also included individuals deported for crimes committed in South Africa. These included two cases of illegal mining, five for robbery, and one for physical assault.
