The National Emergency Response Council on HIV and AIDS (NERCHA) presented 8,000 sanitary pads to maidens during the Shiselweni reed dance. The donation was handed to His Majesty King Mswati III by NERCHA Council Chairperson Ntsika Fakudze, who said the initiative aims to promote menstrual health among adolescent girls and young women.
The annual program seeks to protect young women from vulnerabilities that could lead to exploitation and increase their risk of HIV infection. NERCHA noted that such interventions address not only health but also the social and cultural support systems essential for building a resilient generation of young Emaswati.
