Eswacos launches copyright initiative for creatives

MANZINI — The Eswatini Copyright and Neighboring Rights Society (Eswacos) has launched a new initiative aimed at strengthening copyright protection for the country’s cultural and creative industries.

The “Reinforcing Copyrights for Eswatini’s Cultural and Creative Industries” project is supported by the International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD) of the Eswatini National Commission for UNESCO. It seeks to address gaps in copyright knowledge and management across music, theatre, photography, and other creative sectors.

The initiative kicked off on 27 September at The George Hotel in Manzini, where more than 100 creatives attended a workshop on copyright and neighbouring rights, royalties, and the registration process. The event also included communication support for members of the deaf community.
