Three families, including a child-headed household, have received new homes in Motshane and Madlangemphisi constituencies, provided by the Government of Eswatini. The handovers were conducted on Wednesday, 4 February 2026, by Acting Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla.
The first house went to Gogo Lucy Ntombane Motsa of Mpolonjeni in Motshane Inkhundla. Her previous home was destroyed by a severe storm nearly two years ago and had deteriorated further. Through the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), a two-room house with a water tank, toilet, and makeshift kitchen was constructed for her.
“When I visited her after the disaster, she was very sick and couldn’t even walk properly. After the construction of the house, she is now well. I am made to believe that poverty is a sickness. Thank you DPM for healing the nation through building these houses,” said MP Wilfred Nkambule. 
At Madlangemphisi Inkhundla, two families received new homes, while a third house for Gogo Ntombemhlophe Masilela of Mavula could not be opened as she was critically ill and admitted to hospital.
Gogo Sarah Mahlalela of Dvokolwako community received a new house after living in unsafe conditions for 18 years following her husband’s death. “I have lived with all kinds of snakes in my old house because of the holes around it. It was leaking and unsafe. I never thought I would own such a beautiful structure and live comfortably in my lifetime,” she said tearfully.
At Nkambeni, a child-headed household of three children who lost their mother was provided with a new home. Through the intervention of the Methodist Church and the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, land was secured, and the family also received goats and fencing. Acting Prime Minister Dladla assured that the house would be connected to electricity and water.
He explained that His Majesty King Mswati III had initially instructed the construction of 10 houses under the Inkhundla, but after assessment, 18 houses were built.
