Ezulwini – The Eswatini Communications Commission has announced new requirements for importing electronic communications equipment into the Kingdom. The changes take effect on Monday, April 13, 2026, and will require all importers to hold valid Type Approval Certificates before bringing devices into Eswatini.

The Commission, established under the Eswatini Communications Commission Act of 2013, oversees and regulates the electronic communications sector. Its 2016 regulation on importation, type approval, and distribution ensures that all communications equipment meets technical standards and regulatory requirements.

ESCCOM will work with the Eswatini Revenue Service to enforce inspections at all ports of entry, using the ASYCUDAWorld system for Customs declarations. Importers are advised to consult ESCCOM’s publicly accessible database of approved equipment on www.esccom.org.sz under the Mandate → Type Approval section.

The Commission said these measures aim to maintain a secure digital environment, ensure high-quality communications services, and protect consumers from unsafe or counterfeit devices.
