Ruacana – The Namibian Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, Hon. Lucia Iipumbu, visited the Ruacana Border Post in Namibia’s Kunene Region this week to assess operations and engage with staff. The Ruacana Post, a key entry point from Angola, handles both travel and trade in the region.
During the visit, Minister Iipumbu thanked officials for their dedication and urged them to maintain professionalism, diligence, and respect in serving the public. “Your role is critical in ensuring the safety and smooth movement of people across our borders. Let us remain committed to excellence and unity in service,” she told border staff.
She was joined by Deputy Minister of Gender Equality and Child Welfare, Hon. Linda Mbwale, Omusati Regional Police Commander Commissioner Ismael Basson, and members of the Ruacana Town Council management. The visit is part of broader efforts to strengthen service delivery across Namibia’s border posts.
On Friday, April 3, Minister Iipumbu met with Ruacana Town Council leaders to discuss regional development and service efficiency. The meeting covered public service delivery, safety and security, education, and healthcare. She assured local officials that concerns raised would be relayed to relevant ministries to ensure coordinated action.
Minister Iipumbu also praised the Town Council for consistently organizing the Annual Ruacana Tournament, calling it a platform that promotes health, unity, and talent development. She urged business leaders and community members to support the initiative, noting its importance in youth empowerment and social cohesion.
