Finance minister speaks at AU meeting in Washington

Washington DC – Minister of Finance Neal Rijkenberg delivered remarks at the African Union Mission to the United States on accelerating digital and financial inclusion as a pathway to unlocking job creation at scale across the continent.

Rijkenberg, who serves as Chairperson of the African Union Specialized Technical Committee (STC) on Finance, Planning, Economic Integration and Monetary Affairs, outlined practical steps centred on strengthening digital infrastructure, enabling interoperable financial systems, expanding access to finance for MSMEs and building skills for the digital economy.

The Minister also spoke to the critical role of partnerships and domestic resource mobilisation in advancing Agenda 2063 and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) objectives.

Rijkenberg was accompanied by Principal Secretary Vusie Dlamini and Director of Debt Management Armstrong Dlamini as part of Eswatini’s high-level delegation at the engagement.
