Cultural performances enrich the Ingwenyama Cup finals

Lobamba – Culture received considerable publicity prior to the SMVA Ingwenyama Cup final, which was scheduled to commence at 3:30 p.m. at the Somhlolo National Stadium. The match pitted the Green Mamba against the Nsingizi Hotspurs. 

It was a moment of heightened spirits with lined-up cultural performances, among these being praise singers, Sibhaca, Ummiso, Lutsango and Lacwebetalako. 

Before the day is done, His Majesty King Mswati III, who is expected to grace the day, will confer the winner’s prize.

Praise singers opened by reciting the praises of King Mbandzeni. These were:

  • Minenhle Dlamini from Mfasini Umphakatsi, Mayiwane Inkhundla
  • Thulani Mkhatshwa of Phunga Umphakatsi 
  • Sandile Khumalo of Mbelebeleni Umphakatsi 
  • Ntokozo Seyama of Ebuseleni

The Lutsango category saw the contest for their main prize between four imiphakatsi. These were:

  • KaLanga
  • Bhekinkhosi 
  • Luvinjelweni 
  • Buseleni imiphakatsi also contested.

They were followed by Imbali/Ummiso. These were from the following imiphakatsi:

  • KaLanga 
  • Mbelebeleni 
  • Dlangeni 
  • Buseleni.

Coming in after them was the Sibhaca category. The competing Imiphakatsi were the following:

  • Mkhweli 
  • Buseleni 
  • Maphalaleni.

Closing the cultural performances was Lacwebetelako. Contestants were from the following imiphakatsi:

  • Mkhuzweni 
  • Buseleni 
  • Kaphunga Nkamanzi

The cultural displays were then followed by soccer matches, Chiefs vs Princes, as well as the women’s match between Young Buffaloes Ladies and Manzini Wanderers Ladies preceding the main match.
