Mbabane – The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade, Manqoba Khumalo, announced the appointed members of the Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA) board on Monday in Mbabane, a statement said.
The seven-membered board consists of Ubombo Sugar Limited Managing Director Muzi Siyaya, who chairs it.
The managing director of the Swaziland Building Society, Mbali Sibanyoni, senior economist Henry Mndawe from the Ministry of Agriculture, Sifiso Khumalo from the Ministry of Finance, Lungile Mndzebele-Dladla from the Ministry of Economic Planning, Kingdom Mamba from the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, and Albert Chibi from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Trade are among the other board members.
Siyaya in his remarks said they accept the responsibility that they were given by the minister.
“Minister, as a board, we are fully aligned with the national mandate. We look forward to working closely with the ministry and the EIPA management under the capable leadership of the CEO,” he said. Siyaya said they also look forward to working with the private sector and all stakeholders.
The previous board’s tenure came to an end, the statement said.
EIPA is a crucial government institution mandated with promoting investment drives from both domestic and foreign direct investments and marketing Eswatini as a competitive investment destination.
Minister Khumalo appoints the EIPA board from a new pool of professionals chosen for their competence, leadership experience, and strategic priorities.
the minister said the board has a task of strengthening corporate governance, providing strategic oversight, and supporting EIPA in accelerating investment attraction, improving ease of doing business, and unlocking new growth sectors.
“The government reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that public enterprises are led by capable and ethical leadership that delivers meaningful impact for emaSwati,” the minister said.
