Mbabane – The mayor of the city of Mbabane, Thulani Mkhonto, has advised 12 youth entrepreneurs to be accountable in their businesses.

Mkhonto made his speech while commissioning the entrepreneurs who were successful in their pitching for the Grass Cutting Services Project.

The mayor stated that this effort represents the Municipal Council of Mbabane’s strong dedication to youth empowerment and economic inclusion in the city, reminding participants that the program goes beyond simply sustaining Mbababe but also generates long-term prospects for them.

He asked them to serve as a constructive role model for young entrepreneurs seeking to participate in the economy. Mkhonto expressed appreciation to the Youth Enterprise Fund for their ongoing partnership and assistance., saying, “Your partnership plays a critical role in empowering our youth, and we encourage you to continue walking this journey with us as we expand opportunities and impact.”

“To our young beneficiaries, you are not just workers but entrepreneurs in development. This is your opportunity to gain experience, build a reputation, and lay a foundation for future business growth. As your mayor, allow me to encourage all our young entrepreneurs to embrace the values that will determine the success of this programme and your future business growth. Be disciplined, punctual, reliable, and consistent in delivering quality services. Uphold the highest standards of compliance by adhering to all regulations, safety requirements, and operational guidelines always. Most importantly, be accountable and take pride in your work, recognising that the condition and appearance of our city are a direct reflection of your commitment, professionalism, and efforts,” Mkhonto said.

He stated that they must be committed to not only growing their businesses, but also to making Mbabane cleaner, more lively, and economically competitive. This, he claims, results in a cleaner, more appealing Mbabane, which promotes tourism, investment, and community wellbeing.

“As Council, our vision is to empower youth, grow small businesses, and build a city that is clean, vibrant, and economically active. Together, let us build a cleaner city and a stronger generation of entrepreneurs,” he said.
