Health Ministry receives E17.9m fleet, laptops from Global Fund

Mbabane – The Ministry of Health has received a major logistical and digital boost through the delivery of 23 vehicles and 30 laptops valued at E17.9 million. The handover, which took place on Tuesday morning, was made possible through funding from the Global Fund and coordinated by the National Emergency Response Council on HIV and AIDS (NERCHA).

Health Minister Mduduzi Matsebula officially took delivery of the assets during a brief ceremony led by NERCHA Council Chairperson H.E. Njabuliso Gwebu and Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) Eswatini Chairperson Ms. Lungile Shongwe.

Eight of the 23 vehicles are ambulances designated for the Emergency Preparedness and Response Unit, while the remaining units will support various key public health departments across the country.

Specifically, the National TB Control Program and the Rural Health Motivators Program each received four vehicles. The Strategic Information Department and the Sexual and Reproductive Health Unit received two and four vehicles respectively. One vehicle was allocated to the Eswatini National AIDS Program.

In addition to the fleet, the ministry also received 30 laptops. Twenty-one laptops will support the Eswatini National AIDS Program, five have been designated for the Rural Health Motivators Program, and four for the Strategic Information Department.
