MBABANE – The Ministry of Health has issued a warning to the public about a scam targeting job seekers in the healthcare sector, particularly in the northern Hhohho region.
A fraudster is reportedly posing as a representative of the Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) unit and demanding money from individuals in exchange for promised employment as paramedics. Victims have been told that paying a fee would secure them jobs during an alleged recruitment drive. The suspect is also claiming ties to the King’s Office to gain trust.
According to the ministry, no recruitment is currently taking place within the EPR department. Instead, officials are conducting a validation exercise aimed at identifying trained and qualified paramedics, confirming their educational backgrounds, and noting their year of completion. Authorities stress that this process does not guarantee employment.
The EPR unit has distanced itself from the fraudulent scheme and urged members of the public to remain cautious and avoid paying anyone claiming to offer jobs within the department.
Anyone who has been approached or fallen victim to the scam is advised to report to the nearest police station. Information that could help identify the individual behind the scam is also being sought.
