MBABANE – Thousands gathered for the 2025 National Athletics Championships on Saturday as the country’s finest athletes delivered breathtaking performances that set the Mavuso Sports Centre alight with energy, pride, and fierce competition.
Organised by Athletics Eswatini (AE), the championships saw young and veteran athletes push their limits in a charged atmosphere filled with loud cheers, school songs, and flags waving in support. From sprints and long-distance races to field events, Eswatini’s talent was on full display, giving spectators unforgettable moments of skill, resilience and sportsmanship.
The event formed part of AE’s ongoing “#TogetherForGold” campaign, which aims to promote unity and excellence across the sport. The crowd was treated to not only world-class competition but a strong sense of community, as the country came together to celebrate homegrown athleticism.
The Honourable Minister of Sports was in attendance, personally awarding medals to the top performers. Other key figures included senior government officials, members of Parliament, the CEO and board members of the Eswatini Sports Council, and presidents of various sporting associations, all of whom joined hands in support of the country’s sports development.
Technical officials, coaches, and Athletics Eswatini’s leadership team worked behind the scenes to ensure the smooth running of the championships, while parents and supporters brought unmatched energy to the stadium stands.
For AE, this year’s championship was more than a sporting event — it was a display of national pride and a powerful reminder of the potential that lies within Eswatini’s youth.
