EZULWINI – MTN Eswatini yesterday, Tuesday, June 10, 2025, convened a crucial gathering for the Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMME) business community, focusing on the critical role of e-commerce in today’s economy. The event, held in partnership with A Peculiar People, aimed to empower local entrepreneurs with essential digital knowledge.
Dubbed ‘Connecting at the Roots,’ the initiative sought to enhance digital literacy among grassroots entrepreneurs. It showcased how local businesses could harness technology to boost efficiency, access new markets, and drive inclusive economic development across Eswatini. Attendees gained practical understanding of various digital tools, effective e-commerce strategies, and business practices designed to ensure no emaSwati are left behind in the nation’s ongoing economic transformation.

The MTN Enterprise Unit also took the opportunity to present its diverse portfolio of platform business and digital solutions, all tailored to support the growth and sustainability of SMMEs. The programme also featured an engaging panel discussion where industry leaders shared insights on vital topics. These included strategies for connecting small producers with major retailers, understanding buyer expectations around packaging, consistency, and visibility, and how to build trust and scale through innovation. Discussions also covered agro-processing as a value-add strategy and effective trade marketing.
