Siteki launches town rebranding campaign

The Siteki Town Council has officially launched an ambitious rebranding and destination marketing strategy aimed at positioning the Lubombo town as a modern, investment-ready hub with strong tourism appeal.

The campaign was unveiled on Thursday morning at the Council Boardroom in a press briefing attended by Mayor Bongsipho Dlamini, Chief Executive Officer Sithembile Simelane, councillors, business leaders, youth representatives, and members of the media.

Council officials said the strategy forms part of a broader push to reshape Siteki’s image, driven by the recently approved Integrated Development Plan (IDP) 2024–2029. The plan focuses on financial sustainability, economic growth, crime prevention, infrastructure, and service delivery.

Despite its rich history and elevated location on the Lubombo Plateau, Siteki has struggled with limited exposure and outdated visual identity. Mayor Dlamini said the new campaign is intended to reverse that by presenting Siteki as both a business-friendly environment and a tourism destination.

CEO Simelane said the town’s new image will be built with community participation, not dictated from above. “It’s about shaping a new identity, narrative and future for Siteki — with its people at the centre,” she told the gathering.

The Council intends to gather input from residents, businesses, and visitors through surveys, polls, and community forums to co-create the town’s new visual identity, which will include a fresh logo, colour scheme, and slogan.

The rebranding rollout will cover five priority areas:

  • Developing a unified brand identity
  • Positioning Siteki as an eco-tourism stopover
  • Attracting investment in real estate
  • Driving local business development
  • Revitalising infrastructure and public spaces

The Council is targeting improved signage, cleaner public areas, and increased investor confidence as key outcomes of the campaign.
