MBABANE – The Ministry of Agriculture is convening a national validation meeting to assess Eswatini’s performance in growing its agriculture sector and improving food security, as part of its obligations under the African Union’s Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP).
The meeting, held in partnership with local and regional stakeholders, is focused on finalising the country’s 5th Biennial Review Report, a key document that measures how Eswatini is progressing towards goals set in the Malabo Declaration. The declaration, adopted by African leaders, outlines targets to end hunger, reduce poverty, and strengthen resilience to climate change by enhancing the agricultural sector.
Officials are scrutinising the accuracy of the report’s data to ensure it reflects real conditions on the ground. The review process also seeks to boost collaboration between government agencies, private players, and development partners involved in agriculture and food systems.
