Lesotho, Botswana deepen ties with new bi-national agreement

MASERU – President Duma Gideon Boko of Botswana met with His Majesty King Letsie III and Prime Minister Sam Ntsokoane Matekane during a working visit to Lesotho on July 15, 2025.

The visit included high-level engagements at the Royal Palace and the State House, where both countries reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties. A major highlight was the signing of a Bi-National Commission (BNC) Agreement, replacing the former Joint Commission on Technical and Economic Cooperation (JCTEC) with a more structured cooperation platform between heads of state and government.

The agreement focuses on expanding collaboration in water and energy, trade and investment, agriculture, natural resources, education, security, and defence.
