MASERU – Lesotho is looking to expand cooperation with India in areas such as digital innovation, agriculture, energy, and vocational training following a high-level visit by India’s Minister of State for External Affairs, Mr Pabitra Margherita.
The Indian minister arrived in Maseru this week on his first official working visit to the mountain kingdom, where he was hosted by Prime Minister Sam Ntsokoane Matekane on Tuesday.
The two delegations met under the framework of the Joint Bilateral Commission for Cooperation (JBCC), a long-standing platform through which both countries have maintained diplomatic and development relations. 
Talks centred around reviving key development projects, including the installation of equipment at youth and women’s vocational centres. They also discussed new training opportunities and Indian investment in Lesotho’s solar and hydropower sectors.
India has previously supported Lesotho through food relief, education, and technology initiatives, including the establishment of the Lerotholi Polytechnic Centre of Excellence.
