Stefanutti Stocks lands Manzini mall project

MANZINI – Government has awarded the first phase of the multi-million Emalangeni mall development project to local contractor Stefanutti Stocks, paving the way for what is expected to become the kingdom’s largest and most modern shopping complex.

The announcement was made on Thursday by Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo, who said the first phase would focus on upgrading the Manzini bus terminus into a state-of-the-art transport hub. The cost of this initial phase, including the earthworks, is estimated at E150 million.

Khumalo said construction on the first phase is scheduled to be completed by November 2025. Work on the second phase will begin immediately thereafter.

“This is a significant milestone for local industry and a sign of confidence in the capacity of homegrown contractors,” said Khumalo during the announcement in Manzini.

He also acknowledged the role of the project developer, Shenge (formerly Ntwese), and praised the Manzini Municipality for supporting the development vision.

Shenge’s Tony Sousa said the contractor selection process involved close consultation with His Majesty King Mswati III, who guided that a local firm should take the lead on the project.

The main contractor for the full build of the mall will be announced within two months. Full completion of the development is projected for October 2027.
