MBABANE – The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) made multiple arrests across the country last week, with charges ranging from attempted murder to illegal possession of firearms.
Between 25 and 31 July 2025, authorities apprehended suspects in various locations including Lavumisa, Mbabane, Tshaneni, Pigg’s Peak, and Dinga.
In Lavumisa, a 37-year-old Mozambican man was arrested for attempted murder after allegedly assaulting a 71-year-old man from Somntongo with a sharp object multiple times to the head.
In Mbabane, a 40-year-old man from Mvutjini was charged with housebreaking and theft of property valued at E56,900 at Lomkiri. Meanwhile, a 37-year-old man from Pretoria West, South Africa, was detained at the Ngwenya border for possession of a 9mm pistol and two magazines loaded with 30 live rounds, all without a licence.
Tshaneni police arrested a 24-year-old man from Madlangempisi found with a 9mm pistol and two live rounds without legal permits at Sihhoye.
In Pigg’s Peak, a 26-year-old man from Mdumezulu faces two counts of attempted murder after allegedly stabbing two men aged 27 and 25 from Mpofu at Mhlangatane Joks Tavern following an argument.
Eight suspects aged between 22 and 51 from Dinga were arrested in connection with the murder of a 42-year-old Mahlabatsini man, who died after being assaulted with a sjambok and sticks.
The police urged the public to report suspicious activities immediately by dialing 999, 9999, or 112.
