Police bust document forgery syndicate in Mbabane

Mbabane – The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) has dismantled a document forgery syndicate operating from the Commercial Centre in Mbabane. The operation, conducted yesterday morning by the Financial and Economic Crimes Unit, led to the arrest of five suspects aged between 23 and 49.

Among those taken into custody is a civil servant, believed to be the mastermind of the scheme. According to preliminary investigations, the suspect allegedly stole government stationery and official stamps, which were then used to produce fraudulent documents. Items seized include counterfeit Vehicle Registration Certificates, commonly known as Blue Books, and fake Bail Receipts.

The accused are expected to appear in court to face charges connected to the alleged crimes. Police say the arrests mark progress in safeguarding public institutions from fraud and ensuring accountability.
