MANZINI – Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo has called for stronger collaboration between government and the private sector to boost Eswatini’s industrial base. He spoke yesterday at the National Seminar on Industrial Finance.
The Minister said commercial banks and development finance institutions have been crucial in supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises as well as larger companies, helping more Liswati participate actively in the economy.
During the seminar, Minister Khumalo announced the launch of the Production Incentive Scheme 2.0, aimed at supporting MSMEs in the textile and clothing sector. The initiative includes 100 percent grants, interest-free working capital loans valid for three months, and efforts to increase financial inclusion.
Eswatini National Industrial Development Corporation joined the Minister in disbursing funds to Lucwembe Investment and Seal Manufacturers. The scheme has an annual grant allocation of E1.35 million, with the first phase targeting SMEs and a second phase in the 2026/27 financial year set to support larger enterprises.
The Minister thanked Industrial Development Corporation officials, South African guests, panelists, and attendees, urging stakeholders to advance with collaboration and belief in Eswatini’s industrial potential.
