Mbabane – Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini reported yesterday that he returned from Luanda, Angola, where he represented His Majesty the King and the Kingdom of Eswatini at the 7th AU-EU Summit. The meeting focused on reinforcing the Africa-European partnership and tackling shared global challenges.
Dlamini was joined by Minister of Economic Planning and Development Dr Thambo Gina, Ambassador to Angola H.E. Mlondi Dlamini, and other government officials. He delivered Eswatini’s message under the theme of Peace, Security, Governance, and Multilateralism, calling for African-led solutions to African problems and stronger African Peace and Security Architecture.
The delegation welcomed UN Security Council Resolution 2719, which ensures predictable funding for AU-led peace operations. Dlamini also reiterated Eswatini’s support for UN Security Council reform, backing the Ezulwini Consensus and Sirte Declaration to secure fair African representation, including permanent seats with veto powers. 
On the summit’s sidelines, Eswatini joined President William Ruto’s Ad-Hoc Oversight Committee meeting to discuss AU institutional reform. The Prime Minister praised the progress made towards strengthening the AU’s governance structures.
