Taiwan backs childhood cancer outreach

Hlathikhulu, Shiselweni – The Eswatini National Cancer Control Unit (NCCU), with support from the Embassy of Taiwan and the Taiwan Cancer Project, concluded the 2025 Childhood Cancer Day outreach on 28 November in Hlathikhulu, Shiselweni. The programme aimed to bring support and encouragement to children with cancer and their families across the country.

Teams from NCCU and partner organisations travelled nearly 100 km from Mbabane, delivering lunch packs, toys, and essential household items. Activities were organised to promote resilience and joy among the children, while parents and local coordinators expressed gratitude for the support, noting that no family should face cancer alone.

The initiative forms part of Eswatini’s efforts under the WHO Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer, which focuses on early detection, survival, community awareness, and psychosocial support. The outreach targeted remote communities to ensure practical assistance reached families who need it most.
