Ramaphosa receives Madlanga Commission interim report

Pretoria – President Cyril Ramaphosa received the interim report of the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Wednesday, 17 December 2025. The commission investigates criminality, political interference, and corruption in South Africa’s criminal justice system.

Established by President Ramaphosa in July 2025, the commission is chaired by retired Constitutional Court Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga. It examines allegations of criminal conduct and improper political influence within the justice system.

The Presidency said the President will review the report while the commission, currently in recess, prepares to hear further testimony from new and returning witnesses. Actions deemed criminal are expected to be referred for prosecution under the commission’s mandate.
