Woman faces sentencing over E82,000 drone battery theft

Simunye – A 26-year-old woman from Maphiveni is due in court today for sentencing after Simunye police arrested and charged her in connection with the theft of two drone batteries valued at E82,000 from her employer.

The stolen batteries were discovered missing on April 20, 2026, and investigations led police directly to the woman, who was employed at a company within the Simunye precinct. She was arrested on April 27 while at Simunye Plaza and made her first court appearance on Tuesday.

In a separate case, Hluthi police arrested two men aged 32 and 39 from KaMziki and Mathendele after their employer reported a theft at a store room in Mpakeni. Four tyres valued at E27,200 were discovered stolen on April 27, 2026 at around 4pm. Both suspects were arrested on the same day and charged in connection with the theft.
