Mbabane – The Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy has issued a statement that fuel prices in Eswatini will rise after the movement on international crude oil markets.
While the South African adjustment was announced earlier this week, the new fuel rates in Eswatini will take effect at midnight on Thursday, June 4, 2026, and will be effective Friday, June 5, 2026.
Unleaded petrol will rise by 90 cents per litre, diesel 50 ppm S will fall by E2.40 per litre, and illuminating paraffin by E2.90 per litre, respectively.
The new fuel prices will therefore be as follows:
- The price of Unleaded Petrol (ULP95) will increase from E25.27/litre to E26.17/litre;
- The price of diesel (0.005% S) will decrease from E31.60/litre to E29.20/litre; and
- The price of illuminating paraffin will decrease from E26.28/litre to E23.38/litre.
“The international crude oil prices have decreased and traded at an average of USD 104 per barrel, compared to an average of USD 110 per barrel realised in the month of April, 2026. The improvement in the price of the fuel products is also due to a decrease in the freight rates.”
Lindiwe Mbingo, the Principal Secretary in the ministry, issued the statement, stating that the improvement in diesel and paraffin is due to easing demand with the end of the winter season in the northern hemisphere, whilst petrol demand is rising as the onset of summer intensifies driving.
“The ministry encourages the public to use fuel efficiently as the international oil markets and the Lilangeni/Dollar exchange rate remain volatile,” Mbingo said.
