Matsapha Town Council has met with two national government ministries in Manzini to align on urban development priorities and break down long-standing regulatory barriers between local and national authorities.

The strategic intergovernmental engagement brought together the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, led by Minister Appolo Maphalala, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, led by Minister Manqoba Khumalo, alongside Matsapha Town Council and other councils from across the Kingdom.

The meeting produced a shared commitment to ensure that urban development decisions are coordinated, transparent and responsive to community needs, with a particular focus on making growth economically viable and inclusive for all residents.

Matsapha Town Council said the dialogue is driven by a core principle the council holds: “Sustainable development that is economically viable for everyone. Growth cannot be pursued at the expense of inclusivity, nor can sustainability ignore economic realities.”
