Taipei – Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo held a series of bilateral meetings with leading companies and government ministries in the Republic of China (Taiwan) following his participation in the 30th Anniversary of the International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF).
During the engagements, Khumalo presented investment opportunities available in the Kingdom of Eswatini and reaffirmed the strong diplomatic ties between the two nations, consistent with the Joint Statement on “Investing in Resilience and Prosperity: Digital Innovation for a Sustainable Future.”
The Minister met with YAGEO Corporation, where CEO David Wang spoke on the company’s commitment to providing innovative and dependable electronic solutions. The company’s product lines include LAN magnetics, resistors, temperature sensors, limit switches and inductors, which are integral to the manufacturing of diverse electronic products.
At Leezen Company, President Glendy Lee outlined the firm’s specialisation in organic products and its support for organic farming. The company also promotes sustainability through the use of 100 percent biodegradable bags and continues to import handicrafts from Eswatini for distribution in Taiwan.
Jia Bang Smart Investment presented its development strategy for the Taiwan Industrial Innovation Park (TIIP), focusing on infrastructure development. The plans include establishing an essential oil company, a bio pharmaceutical initiative and a solar storage project in partnership with Blue Energy Company, which specialises in renewable energy solutions.
Khumalo also met representatives of Green Harvest Company, who outlined their expertise in renewable energy, smart grid technology and energy storage facilities, offering solutions that align with Eswatini’s sustainability and energy resilience goals.
In a meeting with Taiwan’s Minister of Economic Affairs Ming-Hsin Kung, the Minister learnt that imports from Eswatini have increased by 78 percent since the signing of the Economic Cooperation Agreement (ECA) in 2018. Kung indicated that the major import products from Eswatini are sugar, handicraft and beef. He also pointed to the signing of the MoU between the two countries on the development of the Buy Eswatini digital platform.
