MAPUTO, Mozambique – More than 3,000 exhibitors are expected at the 61st edition of the Maputo International Trade Fair, known as FACIM 2026, which will take place from August 31 to September 6 at the Ricatla International Exhibition and Trade Centre in Marracuene district, Maputo province.
The fair will run under the theme “Digital and Energy Transformation Towards a Sustainable Economy” and is being organised by APIEX, the Mozambique Investment and Export Promotion Agency. It is expected to bring together 3,150 exhibitors and more than 55,000 visitors from inside Mozambique and abroad.
FACIM director Alfredo Nampuio told Domingo that the number of participants could still rise, as some countries and institutions that had shown interest had not yet confirmed their attendance. 
He said registration closed on Friday, although exceptions were being made for countries and organisations that had previously expressed interest in taking part.
So far, 26 countries have registered for the event, up from 25 in last year’s edition. Saudi Arabia will participate for the first time, while Brazil has been named guest country of honour.
“There is considerable activity in Brazil to mobilise exhibitors, with several companies also expected to travel to Mozambique,” Nampuio said.
Niassa province has been chosen as the featured province for this year’s edition and is expected to send a strong delegation of exhibitors and officials.
For the first time, FACIM 2026 will also include a dedicated pavilion for host Maputo province. Nampuio said the new pavilion would be used to showcase the province’s economic potential, businesses and development projects.
“This is a new development that we believe should be fully capitalised on. Maputo province is the country’s largest industrial hub, and the pavilion will showcase its economic potential, businesses and development projects. This is a milestone and a major innovation in the format that FACIM has traditionally presented,” he said.
