Mbabane – Two young children, aged three and five, were discovered lifeless inside a car at Gobholo over the weekend, prompting swift intervention from government authorities.
The Deputy Prime Minister’s Office has taken the lead in supporting the grieving family, confirming on Monday that it will cover burial costs and provide food and essential services to ensure the children receive a dignified send-off.
Social workers were dispatched to the family’s residence shortly after the incident. During their visit, it was revealed that the mother and both children were not registered in the national population database. The Ministry of Home Affairs was immediately engaged to address the matter, and by the time of the statement’s release, the mother had already received her birth certificate.
Counselling services have also been arranged for the family, with a focus on supporting the mother through the traumatic loss.
