The Ministry of Agriculture has issued a warning following an outbreak of foot and mouth disease (FMD) detected in parts of Eswatini, including Sihlutse, Lavumisa, and areas within the Nhlangano region.

Movement of livestock in and out of the affected zones has been suspended to contain the spread of the highly contagious disease. Farmers are urged to report any signs of infection immediately to local agricultural offices, veterinary officers, police, or traditional leaders.

Symptoms to watch for include blisters or sores on the feet, excessive salivation, lesions in the mouth and hooves, and poor animal health. Early detection is key to preventing further spread.
