LOBAMBA – Prospective road contractors on Friday joined officials from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport for a site inspection along the Siphofaneni-Sithobela-Maloma-Nsoko (MR14) and Maloma-Siphambanweni (MR21) roads.
Stretching a total of 105.9 kilometres, the route spans the Lubombo and Shiselweni regions and is set to undergo a major transformation under Phase 1 of the Eswatini Road Infrastructure Improvement Programme (ERIIP). The project is part of a broader national effort to boost connectivity across urban and rural areas.
During the inspection, the construction firms were taken on a guided tour of the road, stopping at key locations identified for infrastructure upgrades. The road will be upgraded to a paved standard, cutting down travel time and easing movement between the towns and surrounding communities. 
The civil works project is expected to take 36 months to complete.
