Manzini – The Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC) brought together commercial and institutional clients from Manzini for a breakfast meeting on Tuesday, 9 July 2025, as part of its ongoing Customer Partnership Strategy.
The engagement was attended by representatives from major companies and institutions including Shoprite, Swaziland Milling, RFM Hospital, Eswatini Beverages, Montigny, UNESWA, ESWACAA, and the Swaziland National Provident Fund.
Held in Manzini, the session provided a platform for open dialogue on energy challenges and collaborative solutions. EEC’s Key Accounts Manager, Makhosazana Mzileni, invited customers to share feedback and innovations that could improve service delivery, stressing the importance of honest, two-way communication.

EEC Managing Director Ernest Mkhonta outlined the motivation behind the Power Shift Eswatini Winter Campaign, pointing to the strain on the national grid during peak hours and the ongoing subsidy efforts to cushion customers from the rising cost of imported electricity.
Mkhonta also shared updates on the company’s growing local generation efforts and a pending geothermal energy project in partnership with Kenya’s KenGen, which could contribute up to 80 megawatts of renewable energy to the national grid, depending on upcoming drilling outcomes.
