Antananarivo, Madagascar – Lesotho walked away with several honours at the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit held today in Madagascar, where young Basotho impressed leaders and dignitaries with their talent and determination.
Ntsoaki Kholumo made history by winning first place in the Tertiary Institutions Essay Writing Competition, defeating competitors from across the region. Her victory was celebrated as a demonstration of Lesotho’s intellectual strength and the ability of young people to compete at the highest level.

In another milestone, television producer Thabo Harry Rakhomo secured first place in the Television Category of the SADC Media Awards. His work was recognised in front of Heads of State and regional leaders, further cementing Lesotho’s presence in the regional media landscape.

Adding to the celebrations, Boitumelo Khotlele claimed third place in the Tertiary Institutions Essay Writing Competition. Her award was described as a reflection of the persistence and creativity of young Basotho shaping the region’s future.

The Government of Lesotho has applauded the three winners for flying the national flag at the summit and demonstrating the capacity of the country’s youth to shine on regional platforms.
