CAPETOWN – Day two of the 7th Interpol African Regional Conference in Cape Town brought together security leaders and delegates from 56 countries, including Eswatini, to discuss advanced strategies for tackling crime across the continent.
Interpol’s executive leadership used the platform to unveil new policing mechanisms currently in the testing phase, designed to support national crime-fighting efforts. Among them is a plan to align with South Africa’s Operation Shanela, a programme aimed at combating organised crime. Officials said these tools are intended to complement national initiatives while feeding into Interpol’s global strategy.
The gathering has drawn participation from both member and non-member countries, as well as several international organisations. The wide representation underlined Interpol’s approach of unity, resilience, and shared purpose in confronting threats such as organised crime, cybercrime, and trafficking. 
Conference organisers described the initiative as more than just a policy framework, but a signal of momentum in the fight against transnational crime. Delegates were reminded that real change lies not only in plans and policies but in the collective resolve of law enforcement agencies and governments working together.
