Mbabane – The old building of Mbabane Government Hospital has been temporarily closed after an electrical fault caused a blackout at the maternity unit, the Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday. The fault burned out a circuit breaker, affecting services across several departments and leaving some clients without access to care.
Patients seeking maternity services are being asked to go to other health facilities. The hospital continues to assist women who are close to delivery, have pregnancy complications, or require emergency care. Technicians are working to replace the burnt-out circuit breaker and implement a long-term solution, a process expected to take at least an hour.
The Ministry of Health apologized for the inconvenience but said the closure is necessary to safeguard both patients and health workers. Full services are expected to resume once the electrical issue is resolved.
