Mbabane – Minister of Health Mduduzi Matsebula has officially commissioned four TB screening trucks and 12 motorbikes valued at over E21 million, procured with support from The Global Fund.
Three of the trucks are equipped with Computer-Aided Detection (CAD), AI technology, and Gene-Xpert machines to enhance TB diagnosis and screening across the country. The vehicles and motorbikes will operate regionally to reach communities that are hard to access, as Eswatini aims to achieve TB-free status by 2028, well ahead of the 2038 regional target.
Minister Matsebula said the integration of CAD and AI technologies will allow faster and more accurate TB detection, enabling early treatment and reducing delays in care. One of the trucks was piloted at the recent Eswatini International Trade Fair, where 229 people were screened and eight TB cases were referred for further treatment.
