Ezulwini, 12 December 2025 – Young environmental champions in Eswatini received prizes, cash, and other rewards during the Re-Think Waste Youth Challenge awards at Sibani Sami Hotel. The competition, run by the European Union in partnership with the EU-Eswatini Youth Advisory Board, aimed to encourage youth to become eco-educators and promote the circular economy.
The contest formed part of the EU Green Diplomacy Weeks held in October and November 2025, challenging participants to create projects that teach smart waste habits, simplify recycling, and inspire communities to adopt sustainable practices.
Winners were announced in three categories. Sibongumenzi Ntuli took first place in the Eco Educator Award, with Setsabile Nkambule as runner-up. Nkambule also won the Creative Communicator Award, with Sicalo Maziya in second place. Siyabonga Nxumalo received the Community Impact Award, while Andile Khumalo was runner-up. All other participants received certificates. 
EU Ambassador to Eswatini Karsten Mecklenburg congratulated the winners, encouraging them to implement their ideas in their communities to strengthen environmental protection and climate action. Representatives from the Eswatini Environment Authority were also present.
