Mbabane – The Motor Vehicle Accident Fund has paid out more than E3.7 million to road crash victims and their families since the beginning of 2026, while urging some beneficiaries to urgently collect and sign their offer letters.
According to the fund, 529 transactions valued at E3,717,814.31 were processed between January 7 and February 25, covering 310 claims across the country. The payments were made to individuals who suffered injuries or families who lost breadwinners in road traffic accidents.
The compensation covers several categories including loss of support for dependents of deceased or injured earners, loss of earnings for those unable to work, future medical costs such as rehabilitation and long term care, as well as general damages for pain, suffering and reduced quality of life. 
Chief Executive Officer Khangeziwe Mabuza said the payouts reflect the fund’s ongoing role in supporting affected families.
“We intend to place claimants at the centre of the Fund’s daily activity to improve their experience with us. These payments are not just financial transactions—they are a lifeline for families and individuals rebuilding their lives after tragedy,” she said.
Officials noted that for many recipients, the assistance represents more than monetary relief, as it helps restore dignity and stability after devastating incidents on the country’s roads.
The fund also revealed that 28 additional claims have already been reviewed, assessed and issued with offers. However, some beneficiaries have not yet come forward to complete the required documentation.
“We urge those who have not yet collected their offers to visit any of our Branches in Mbabane and Manzini for their signatures. Once signed, the Fund will then process payments before the end of the financial year (March 31, 2026) to ensure timely assistance,” Mabuza added.
