Mbabane – The Eswatini Electricity Company has announced a series of planned electricity outages set for Monday, March 23, 2026 and Tuesday, March 24, 2026, as part of routine maintenance across several parts of the country.
According to the power utility, the interruptions will affect areas in Mankayane and Manzini on Monday, with maintenance work including transformer installation, bush clearing and closing span operations.
In Mankayane, electricity supply will be interrupted in Nkanjini, Mpolonjeni and surrounding areas from 11:00 to 14:00 for transformer installation works.
In the Manzini region, areas around Sdwala Primary School, Sidwala MTN, Mandlakhe Bar, Sicunusa Border Gate, Bethlehem Primary School, Johnson Farm, Steenkamp Farm and Sicunusa MTN will experience outages between 10:00 and 16:00 for bush clearing. Additional interruptions are expected in Sidvokodvo and Tums Water World from 10:30 to 16:00 due to closing span works.
The company has urged members of the public to treat all electricity infrastructure as live during the maintenance period.
Power interruptions will continue on Tuesday, March 24, affecting a wider number of regions including Nhlangano, Manzini, Malkerns, Siteki, Mankayane and Hluti.
In Nhlangano, areas such as Mvungeni, Nkwalini, Hlatsi Water Treatment Plant and surrounding communities will face outages from 11:00 to 16:00 for service connection and closing span works.
Parts of Manzini including New Thulwane, Mdumezulu, Macetjeni, Lobamba Lomdzala and Don Don will be affected from 10:00 to 16:00 for service works and construction activities. In Malkerns, Madlangempisi, Gucuka and Sikhotseni will experience outages from 09:00 to 16:00 due to project construction.
In the Siteki area, Sitsatsaweni, Bhandeni and nearby communities are scheduled for interruptions from 09:00 to 16:00 for closing span works.
Mankayane will again be affected, with Nkanjini, Mpolonjeni and Sibovu areas experiencing outages from 09:00 to 16:00 for rural project construction and bush clearing.
In Hluti, electricity supply will be disrupted in Jozini, Chacharacha, Sitfwetfweni, Gebeni, including Gebeni Primary School and Gebeni Clinic, with works ranging from fallen tree maintenance to service connection and project construction between 07:00 and 17:00.
Further outages are expected in Malkerns at OSSU Staff Houses from 09:00 to 17:00 for metering works, while areas in Elangeni including Dzabe and Lamgabhi will be affected from 10:00 to 16:00 due to routine bush clearing.
The Eswatini Electricity Company stated, “Members of the public are to treat all electricity structures as live at all times for the duration of the planned interruptions. We apologize for the inconvenience that may be caused.”
