New Delhi – An Indian government minister has spoken warmly about Eswatini, describing the Kingdom as one of the most beautiful places he has visited, after travelling to the country in his official capacity.
Union Minister of State Pabitra Margherita made the remarks at the Yuva Bharat Global Forum in Delhi, where he reflected on his travels across Africa and drew comparisons between the continent’s ancient civilisations and that of India.
“I had the opportunity to visit a few African countries, including South Africa, the beautiful Lesotho, and the Kingdom of Eswatini,” Margherita told the forum.
The minister, whose official responsibilities span Central, South and Latin America as well as Pacific island countries including New Zealand, said his visits to Africa came after he assumed office.
He used his address to encourage those who had never been to Africa to make the trip at least once, saying the continent stood out even against the more than 50 countries he had personally visited.
“Please make sure that once, at least once, you must visit Africa. This is the most beautiful part in the world. Having visited more than 50 countries, I can assure that this is the most beautiful area of our world, specially crafted and designed by the Almighty,” he said.
Margherita told the gathering that Africa and India share deep civilisational roots, describing both as millennia-old living civilisations with much to explore, share and discover together.
He pointed to cultural diplomacy as a key pillar of the India-Africa relationship, welcoming the Yuva Bharat Global Forum’s focus on building bridges between the two regions.
“India-Africa relationship is deeply rooted in our civilizational linkages,” he said, thanking the forum’s organisers, including convenor Chakbal and moderator Sudeep, for putting the event together.
