He told attendees that the gathering was a celebration of the strong people-to-people ties between Namibia and Malaysia, built on mutual respect and shared curiosity, and called on residents and visitors to engage with the exhibits, enjoy the performances and take the opportunity to learn and connect.

Malaysian High Commissioner Khornelisman Jasri described Walvis Bay as a dynamic city with strong tourism potential, pointing to its coastline and global connectivity as key strengths. He noted that Namibia and Malaysia share a number of similarities, including rich natural beauty, cultural diversity and the use of English as a common language of communication.

Jasri extended an open invitation to Namibians to explore Malaysia under the campaign theme “Malaysia: A Culturally Rich and Sustainable Destination,” painting a picture of a country that offers several holidays in one, from the heights of Mount Kinabalu and the beaches of Langkawi to the historic streets of Melaka and Penang and the bustling city life of Kuala Lumpur. He also pointed out that Namibians can travel to Malaysia visa-free for up to 30 days.

Attendees at the event were treated to discounted travel packages, lucky draws and giveaways, fun quizzes, cultural performances, a children’s colouring contest and a themed photo booth, making it a family-friendly day out.

Jasri left delegates with a thought that captured the spirit of the event, noting that when people travel, they do not just bring back photos, they bring back understanding.
