Mbabane – The Eswatini National Association of Journalists has announced the passing of former Eswatini Observer and Times of Eswatini journalist Thokozani Lesane Mamba, describing his death as a great loss to the entire media fraternity in the kingdom.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, April 30, 2026, after the news was confirmed by Mamba’s family.
Mamba served at the Times of Eswatini, where he headed the Siteki Office, a role in which he was described as demonstrating remarkable maturity, leadership and an unwavering commitment to ethical journalism. He also served as a sports reporter at the Eswatini Observer, where colleagues remembered him for his professionalism and integrity in ensuring that stories were told accurately, fairly and with a strong sense of responsibility to the public.
Beyond the newsroom, Mamba was known for his deep connection to the communities he covered. His reporting consistently gave voice to ordinary emaSwati and shed light on issues affecting rural and underserved areas, contributing meaningfully to community development and public awareness.
ESNAJ said the industry has lost a mentor, a leader and a storyteller who understood the power of the pen in shaping society.
The association extended its heartfelt condolences to the Mamba family, friends, former colleagues and all those whose lives he touched, saying it stands in solidarity with them during this difficult time and will honour his legacy by continuing to uphold the values he championed.
