Mbabane – Foreign Affairs Minister Senator Pholile Shakantu received Zimbabwe’s Minister of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa, at a bilateral meeting held on Thursday, 14 May 2026, on the sidelines of a major international gathering at the Ezulwini Palazzo International Convention Centre.
Senator Mutsvangwa was in the Kingdom to participate in a Women’s Forum held under the theme “Empowering Women in Agriculture Value Chains as a Driver of Economic Development.” The forum formed part of the United Nations International Year of the Woman Farmer and was held within the broader framework of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States and European Union Parliamentary Assembly Meetings.

During the bilateral engagement, the two ministers discussed strengthening trade and cooperation, with a particular focus on women empowerment, reflecting the strong and enduring diplomatic ties between the two neighbouring countries.
Senator Mutsvangwa commended Eswatini’s infrastructure development and the visible progress the country continues to make across various sectors. She also expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to her and the Zimbabwean delegation during their visit.
The Zimbabwean minister spoke highly of the longstanding relationship between the two sister nations and reaffirmed Zimbabwe’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Eswatini.
