Skukuza – South African President Cyril Ramaphosa will on Saturday address the official launch of the Kruger National Park Centenary Commemoration at Skukuza Rest Camp in Mpumalanga, marking 100 years since the park’s formal proclamation in 1926.

The event, set for 30 May 2026 at 18h00, is being held under the theme “Our Heritage, Our Future,” and will reflect on a century of conservation leadership, biodiversity protection, scientific progress, tourism development and heritage management.

The centenary also serves as an occasion to honour the generations of rangers, scientists, community members, conservationists and leaders who shaped and protected one of the world’s most celebrated game reserves over the past hundred years.

Organisers say the commemoration will also draw attention to the importance of collaborative partnerships in conservation, tourism and environmental sustainability, as well as the park’s resilience following recent flooding that damaged infrastructure, disrupted tourism operations and affected surrounding communities.
