Matsapha – Zakhele Dludlu, a congregant at Mbikwakhe Glorious Church of Christ, believes males should avoid flaunting money and worldly possessions when proposing love to women.

Dludlu, a married man, spoke during a mental health seminar for males at the church over the weekend, admitting that he never had to entice his wife by showing off, but rather by speaking to her.

“Brothers, please refrain from using money to propose love. Only talk via your mouth. Stop utilising dress codes, expensive phones, and dangling car keys. They will eventually become a snare,” he explained, saying that he was wearing sandals when I went to propose to the woman he eventually married and took as his wife, not fancy shoes.

Dludlu argued that in the past, men had elevated themselves to the position of wanting to have  the last word at home. He noted that, while the Bible encourages males to dominate, tolerant women are becoming increasingly rare. He recognised that times have changed and asked men to learn how to interact with women rather than projecting themselves as dominant.

He also mentioned that men had problems locating suitable companions for marriage. He noticed that people are becoming more impatient with one another and recommended men to be the ones who are patient.

“Try to be lenient and avoid telling women that you are the man. Although a woman can say so many things while apologising, we should be patient with them and not become enraged like they do. “If we are lenient with them, there will be no GBV,” he stated.
