A 23-year old gang-affiliated male suspect has been arrested in connection with the recovery of a firearm, ammunition, and 1 013 Mandrax tablets in Epping Forest on Monday, 13 July 2026, SAPS say.
According to a statement, the Elsies River police were conducting an intelligence-driven operation, following on a tipoff about an unlicensed firearm concealed at a house in Snaresbrook Road, Epping Forest.
The police say when they arrived at the address at about 17:40, the firearm and five rounds of ammunition were uncovered after a thorough search, leading to the arrest of the suspect. 
The police said when they continued to an address in Chigwell Street, another 50-year-old male suspect was found in possession of 1 013 Mandrax tablets at about 20:00, apprehending both suspects who are expected to appear before the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court.
